Wildlife in Your Attic? We Find It, Remove It, and Close the Way Back In

Something is scratching over the ceiling. Or thumping after dark. Or leaving a sharp smell you cannot ignore. In the Chattanooga area, that usually means squirrels, raccoons, bats, or rodents have found a gap in the roof, soffit, or crawl space.

Call (423) 831-2209. We inspect, remove wildlife humanely, seal entry points, and talk through cleanup when droppings or torn insulation are part of the mess.

We'll follow up. If an animal is in living space, or a bat was in a room with people or pets, say that in the notes.

Short form. We follow up.

What homeowners usually notice first

Daytime scurrying often points to Eastern gray squirrels. Night thumps and heavier movement lean raccoon. Soft fluttering or chirping in a quiet attic at dusk can mean bats. Mice and rats leave smaller trails, chewed corners, and droppings along joists. Near crawl spaces and decks, skunks, opossums, and the occasional snake show up too.

Attic clues pile up fast: scratching, thumping, droppings, chewed wires, torn insulation, urine smell, and gaps at the roofline or soffit. You do not need to guess the species before you call. A solid inspection sorts day noise from night noise and maps every opening that let them in.

What we do

Inspect. We walk the exterior, check fascia, vents, chimneys, and crawl access, then look inside where it is safe. The goal is a clear picture: which animal, how they got in, and what damage is already there.

Remove. Humane removal comes first. Live animals leave when the path is set up correctly. We do not leave a hole open and hope they stay gone.

Exclude. Trap-only work fails when the same gap stays open. Sealing entry points is what stops the next squirrel, raccoon, or bat from repeating the cycle. Materials and methods stay practical: metal, mesh, and solid repairs that hold up on Tennessee roofs.

Cleanup talk. Droppings, urine soak, and shredded insulation are health and odor issues. We flag what needs attention so you can plan next steps without guessing.

Areas we serve

We work across greater Chattanooga and nearby communities where green corridors meet roofs:

  • Chattanooga: river city housing, Lookout and Missionary Ridge green belts, older in-town roofs and newer builds.
  • Hixson: North Hamilton suburbs near Chickamauga Lake and wooded lots.
  • East Ridge: denser mid-century streets, soffit and chimney problems, close to the Georgia line.
  • Red Bank: Stringer's Ridge canopy pressed against neighborhoods and North Shore adjacency.
  • Signal Mountain: ridge and brow homes with heavy tree cover and limbs to fascia.
  • Soddy Daisy: lake and gorge edges, more rural lots, attic plus crawl and under-deck pressure.

Each city page covers local habitat and housing. They are not the same paragraph with a different town name.

Why exclusion matters as much as removal

A raccoon that leaves tonight can return next week if the soffit gap is still there. Squirrels use tree limbs like bridges. Bats return to the same attic roost year after year when vents stay open. Closing those paths is the part that protects wiring, insulation, and your sleep.

We keep the framing honest: humane removal plus exclusion. No invented licenses, no fake case studies, no review-count theater. You get a clear plan and a phone number that picks up when something is in the attic again.

Not sure what's in the attic?

Use the attic animal quiz. Time of day, sound, location, droppings, season. It will not invent a species from your ZIP. It will suggest a likely pest and a next step.

Short FAQ

Do I need to know what animal it is before I call?+

No. Describe when you hear it and what you have seen. Day vs night timing already narrows the list.

Will you just set a trap and leave?+

Trapping without sealing is a revolving door. We aim for remove and exclude so the same gap does not invite the next animal.

What about bats in summer?+

Tennessee maternity-colony exclusion is generally restricted about May 1 through August 1. We can still inspect and plan anytime. Confirm timing with a TWRA-aware operator before any bat exclusion work.

Do you only work on attics?+

Attics are common, but crawl spaces, under decks, chimneys, and roofline gaps show up just as often depending on the neighborhood.

How fast should I call?+

As soon as noise, smell, or droppings show up. Waiting usually means more insulation damage and more chewed wire.
